Weekend Wedding: Monday Morning – check contract and liaise with Agent regarding times (always good to double-check as some weddings can have last minute changes), and then work out route (Oxford). Work out times and liaise with band members on leaving time etc. We always leave additional time for weddings as it’s not often they run to plan time-wise and some agents get the times wrong. We’ve had so many agents get the times wrong on previous occasions we always leave earlier unless we are dealing direct with the Bride and Groom. It’s very often that we have to wait when performing for weddings as speeches nearly always run over. If we are performing their special song choice for their first dance, the week of the wedding we have a short rehearsal to practice the song and to make sure the song is perfect. We perform this band as option of a 4piece or a 5piece with addition of a sax player, so we may also have a run through of a few other or new songs in the rehearsal.
This week, i also set time aside to do some general Band promotion. This included searching for new Agents on the internet and then sending them an email to introduce ourselves and what we can offer. I also then sent some up to date, availability date lists to our exising agents.
Approx hours on the road: 10.5 hrs
Plus
1hr Planning route, checking Booking Form and speaking with Bride & Groom
1hr Rehearsal
+
5 hrs - General Band promotion
2hrs - Availability emails
2 hrs - Dealing with new enquiries and future bookings
This time doesn't include the amount of time taken when dealing with the Client from the first initial enquiry - this can be a lengthy process with lots of questions and requirements before the booking is confirmed. Once a Booking is confirmed, if through an agent, we await contract - if direct with us, I send them a booking form. The hours stated above are the hours undertaken the week of the actual booking only.

"Just a note to say the Band and DJ were brilliant, so many people have
asked who the Band were - and we didn't stop dancing! - please can you pass on
our thanks to them!" Via Agent
