Yet another wedding to add to our bow! For a change, this was booked by the Father of the Bride, so we didn’t have any correspondence with the Bride & Groom.
The week of the booking (during my usual Monday job list!) I received an email from the father of the bride with the email address of the wedding coordinator asking me to speak with her. I emailed the coordinator to ask for times we could gain entry etc. For a change, we were quite local so didn’t need to leave home too early.
We had learnt the special song of the bride and grooms choice for their first dance, so had to have a rehearsal that week to make sure it was perfect. I spoke with the wedding coordinator when we arrived about times and also liaised with him over changing room for us etc.
Four songs in to our set, our bass players Amp caught fire! Luckily we were near the fire escape so I quickly opened the door and the guys took it outside. Of course this meant we had to stop our performance but luckily we had just reached the end of a song. Luckily as we were close to home, our bass player quickly drove home to get his spare amp. They also had a DJ who could keep the music going whilst we sorted ourselves out. It was then my job to approach the Bride & Groom and explain what was happening and that we would make up our time once we had another amp. Luckily for us, they were fine about it and very easy going!

This time doesn't include the amount of time taken when dealing with the Client from the first initial enquiry - this can be a lengthy process with lots of questions and requirements before the booking is confirmed. Once a Booking is confirmed, if through an agent, we await contract - if direct with us, I send them a booking form.
