Creative Ind Work Placement - Blog 11

BLOG 11

This week we had another wedding. A direct booking which I love (as you know! Due to the relationship and correspondence with my Bride & Groom!!).

As always on Monday, I do my usual check of contract and then contact the Bride & Groom to double-check all details and any changes. Then I work out the route and times and inform the band of our leaving time. We also had to squeeze in a rehearsal prior to the booking to practice the bride & grooms choice of song for their first dance.

The Bride and groom were having their evening reception in the same room as the breakfast which meant we had to be very quick in setting up and sound-checking, so once we can gain entry to the room it’s all hands on deck!

When we arrive at the venues, it’s also my job to go in first, introduce myself and ask for the manager and request details of room for unloading and setting up etc. It’s my job to liaise with the on duty manager or wedding coordinator on the plans for the evening and follow any instructions.

I also took time this week in searching for some new Agents on the Internet so i could then send them an email to introduce ourselves for the consideration for work. I also then sent emails to our current agents of our available dates and gave them some new pictures.

Total number of Hours on the Road: 10 Hours
Plus
1hr - Checking Booking form / planning route and speaking with Bride
2hrs - Rehearsal
+
5hrs - Searching & approaching new Agents
2hrs - Emailing & Calling our existing Agents
2hrs - Dealing with new enquiries and future bookings

This time doesn't include the amount of time taken when dealing with the Client from the first initial enquiry - this can be a lengthy process with lots of questions and requirements before the booking is confirmed. Once a Booking is confirmed, if through an agent, we await contract - if direct with us, I send them a booking form. The hours stated above are the hours undertaken the week of the actual booking only.

“Thanks Renaissance for your fantastic performance at our wedding! Your song choices were amazing and got everybody onto the dance-floor partying away until midnight! Our first dance was made even more special with your brilliant vocals. You brought a smile to everyone's face and we've had so many comments on how wonderful you were and how the guitar solos rocked!! Would definately recommend you to anyone wanting a professional and talented band". Lisa & Alex xxx
