Creative Industries Work Placement - BLOG 3

Creative Industries Work Placement

BLOG 3

The usual Monday checks....... Three gigs this weekend so firstly the usual check-in with agent then check contracts and details, times and plan routes and leaving times etc. (Cardiff, Tenby, Gloucester).
All bookings are very different this week. Butlins for example we aren’t on stage until 12.30am so don’t need to be at the venue until 10pm so leave home around 8pm. Whereas, our booking at Haven on the Sunday is a set complete by 5pm, which means an arrive by 3pm so leaving home at 1pm. We are on stage for our first spot at 9pm and second spot at 10.15pm.
The wedding we had to perform for on the Monday was a set by 7pm but with that, we do the complete evening including back ground music as guests arrive, introducing the bride and groom for the first dance, possibly the announcement of the throwing of the bouquet and the buffet and possibly a few words from the Groom plus disco music in our break. I always contact the Bride and Groom the week before to run through final details or any changes. Most Bride and grooms also need me to supply a copy of our Public Liability Insurance and PAT testing certificate for the venue (most venues request this). Failure to provide this could result in the venue not allowing us to play.

I also took time this week to email our availability to existing Agents in the hope to gain further work.
